Saving Private Warcraft

Yeah that was the cleaverest thing I could think of… get off my back… geez!

Anyway news is out that Robert Rodat the scribe behind movies like Saving Private Ryan is currently at the helm of scripting the World of Warcraft movie directed by Sam Raimi. Raimi says he wants to stay faithful “to the Horde and the Alliance and the mythology that takes place in the game,” as well as “choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible.”

Interesting times. More on that here.

Battle.net accounts required by November 11th

Do you WoW but dont have a Battle.net account? Well sir you need to get your act together because as of November 11th Blizzard will be stopping non Battle.net accounts from being able to play.

As an incentive to hook your account up Blizzard will be giving players an ingame pet Oswald the penguin. Those who already have merged their accounts dont worry you will also get the pet!

No news yet on how or when this pet will be coming – but one thing is for sure if you havent merged your account then go do it!

More details here.

Who’s ready for a resurge in grunge-greatness? Well all are dam it!

During the third night of Pearl Jam’s sold-out stand at the Gibson Amphitheater, former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell strolled onstage for a rendition of “Hunger Strike,” the 1991 hit from Temple of the Dog, the band fronted by Cornell and featuring the entire PJ crew. Later, Alice in Chains axeman Jerry Cantrell stepped up to rip the solo on “Alive.”

And boy were they good performances… I am sooooo jealous.

You can check out the vids here.

Left 4 Dead 2 Coming To Australia…but…

News is coming through that Left 4 Dead 2 has been given a rating of MA15+ by the classification board.

BUT it’s an edited version of the game. Valve is still appealing the ban on the original version and Gabe Newell has told Kotaku that this edited version is a back up plan if the appeal fails.

So there you have it. Hopefully the appeal will be successful and we get the game as intended but in the event the wheels fall off the wagon, there is a smaller slightly broken wagon with square wheels we can use instead.

Patch 3.3 emblems anyone?

So when 3.3 hits you want to get into the higher level instance and raids to face off Arthas but just not sure if your gear will be up to scratch?

Well rumour has it that in the upcoming patch 3.3 ‘for the time being, the intent is to have everything that drops Emblems of Conquest drop Emblems of Triumph’ This will enable anyone that is heroic ready (lvl 80 basically) can start farming for emblems that will give them access to tier 9 gear.

As well as Emblems of Triumph being the new norm in heroic dungeons you will quests like the heroic daily will drop the all new Emblem of Frost which will be the highest level emblem in the game. There will be other methods to obtaining these emblems also like downing the bosses in the new raid, but there is another method that will get you a nice meaty supply of 10 emblems of frost, and that is the new Daily raid quests (might not be daily – might be weekly).

All this news about making the game more accessible I think is a good thing, some nay sayers say its the end of the world when noobs are able to dance around in epic gear, I say at the end of the day as long as we have fun whats the harm?

This is all going on in the PTR at the moment – so numbers and info may change before going live – but I think it is pretty exciting!

Icecrown Citadel: Raid Preview

Anyone sick of my WoW posts? No? Good. Cause I have a brand new preview post of the upcoming raid instance in patch 3.3. The grand daddy of raids I would hope…. ICECROWN CITADEL.

This will be the last major raid in the current expansion and promises to be every bit as epic as you can imagine. Blizzard have just released a preview of the raid on their site and I encourage you to go check it out here.

After the jump I will highlight some of the things I will be looking forward to in this raid (provided I can pug it… dam guild breaking up)

Margaret Pomeranz Discusses R18+ Classification

I thought I’d post this for two reasons:

  1. R18+ Rating is STILL an unresolved issue in Australia
  2. Margaret Pomeranz is a fairly well respected identity within the film, cinema and art community.

A thoughtful and insightful discussion.
