Remember when the Xbox first came out, and PS2 owners made fun of it for being so big and bulky? Then the PS3 was released, and it was bigger and bulkier than the Xbox, but they acted like it wasn't important?

Good times (I have no real opinion on this matter).

It's just another opportunity to get people interested in the console again by lowering the price.

I ordered a PS3 slim, but they gave me choc mountain :( It's ok though, there's 33% more!!

What's the obsession with slim consoles anyway?? I mean is it just a chic thing for the consumer? Or do the developers see it as a step forward in the development of the console, like "well we can both do the same thing, but our is 10% smaller than yours, therefore we're better."??

When they slim the consoles down are there risk of introducing new hardware issues with the new architecture? I.e. I wouldn't want to get a PS3 slim if i found out in two months that it has a RROD type issue.

I don't recall the Ps2 slim having problems, but i'm just curious if it happens.
