As far as poor decisions go Telstra, Optus and Primus have all sent out press releases informing the public they support the proposed internet filter.
From what I can gather the three tel-co’s are just getting into the governments’ pocket so they can use the NBN when its ready (National Broadband Network).
I really do wonder if they’ve thought about the impact this will have on the quality of service they provide…
Check out the story on Gizmodo for the press releases.
UPDATE: Gizmodo is running a fairly comprehensive coverage of the issue here. Seems like everyone but the government feels that this is not the answer. Stay informed.
In more political drama today, the Federal Government has released the discussion paper for an R18+ Classification for games.
The discussion paper has taken a long time to finally make its way into the hands of the public. It outlines the negative and positives for an R18+ Classification for games.
Please check out Kotaku’s comprehensive coverage of the issue (they do this stuff for a living and do it more justice).
If you’d rather skip straight to the part where you let the government know you support the idea (or don’t support…) you can do so by going to http://www.ag.gov.au/gamesclassification.
In the on-going catastrophe that is Stephen Conroy’s idea of internet filtering, he has released a report on the findings/lack-of-statistics.
I’m pretty sure I’ve made my thoughts on the matter clear but I encourage you to make your own mind up and read the report or a summarised version of it. Gizmodo’s coverage is quite good and echo’s my thoughts.
If you can wade through the political spin in the report you’ll probably come to the conclusion they have left a lot unsaid and not taken a lot of facts into account.
I bet you thought you’d never see this day. December 17 is the magical and long awaited date that the demo for Gran Turismo 5 will appear on PSN in Europe, America and Australia.
The demo will allow players to enter in the “GT Academy Time Trial” sponsored by Nissan (did anyone else see that coming?).
The competition will take the top 20 people and put them through proper real life race training. From there a driver is selected and given the chance to race full time in the European GT4 championship in a Nissan 370Z prepared by RJN Motorsport.
So for those of you that have a PS3, I’ll see you on the track.

While it may be for PC, does anyone else get the feeling that maybe a Game Race is in the works?
Some comments from a Microsoft exec have popped up on the Tesla Customer Blog.
In his comments he talks about a team of sound engineers from Microsoft Game Studios recording audio for Forza and Project Gotham.
A team of sound engineers from Microsoft Game Studios (some working on Forza, some on Project Gotham Racing) asked if I was willing to take my Roadster to a track so they could record a variety of sounds. Some time ago they had the opportunity to record Tesla motor noises when a prototype was being run on a dyno at Tesla. But the teams were excited about the prospect of recording other sounds, particularly tire skid and squeal noises, without the interference of loud engine and exhaust noise. Of course I said “yes.”
There are a couple of things that could be taken away from Mr Burts’ comments.
Project Gotham 5 may be in development at Turn 10 already.
He may be slightly confused about what the audio is actually being used for (PGR 4 had a Tesla in the game).
